If you want to hear true stories of what it’s like to be an Alaskan fisherman, you’re in luck: on Wednesday, Jan. 23, Dean Adams will read from his new book, “Four Thousand Hooks: A True Story of Fishing and Coming of Age on the High Seas of Alaska,” from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ballard Library. The reading is free and open to the public.
Adams’ novel is about his adventures as a 16-year-old crew member on an Alaskan fishing boat. He retired from Alaskan commercial fishing in 2007, and has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Washington’s School of Aquatic and Fishery Science.
Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. For more information, call the branch at 206-684-4089 or Ask a Librarian.
