Central Ballard Residents Association (CBRA) will meet to discuss the potential establishment of Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) areas — curb parking with time limits — in central Ballard. The meeting will be held this Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at Swedish Hospital (5330 Tallman Ave.) in Conference Room A.
CBRA members voted to ask the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) to conduct a parking study to consider the potential establishment of RPZs in our neighborhood.
The RPZ program was created by SDOT to ease parking congestion in residential neighborhoods, while at the same time allowing people to use the public streets. The program assists to ease neighborhood parking issues through signed time limits, where vehicles displaying valid RPZ permits are exempt.
RPZ programs already exist in over 31 zones throughout Seattle, the closest zone to Ballard being Magnolia. Check out the shaded areas on the map above to see the RPZ zones.
Margo Polley and Ruth Harper from SDOT will attend the meeting to further the discussion. They will provide information and take questions from attendees to discuss how RPZs would work in our neighborhood and how residents would be affected.
All are welcome to attend the meeting.
