Thunder, lightning and plenty of hail

The hail started with a crack of thunder and didn’t quit for several minutes, blanketing Ballard in white. Miles shot this Instagram photo:

“Twenty-four cloud to ground lightning strikes in the area just north of downtown Seattle!” tweeted KIRO meteorologist Morgan Palmer. The hail that hit Ballard and North Seattle moved east, blanketing Bellevue in white, too.
