Seattle Parks and Recreation has increased access to funding scholarships for teen programs with $40,000 from the 2013 Hope for Youth Fund. Established non-profits who are serving young people ages 11-19 can apply for funds to reach out to low-income youth through the current programs that they offer.
“Funding will support outreach efforts to diverse communities to engage youth who may not have participated in the past because of a lack of money for participation fees,” writes Seattle Park and Recreation.
The funding will also give organizations an opportunity to increase participation by youth from refugee/immigrant communities in their programs.
If your organization is interested in applying get an application from Patricia Young at patricia.young@seattle.gov or call (206) 233-7011. Once it is completed return it:
- Electronically to Patricia.young@seattle.gov or
- By mail to Patricia Young, Seattle Parks and Recreation, 4209 W Marginal Way SW, Seattle, WA 98106.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Monday, May 20. Representatives from Parks, the Department of Neighborhoods and the community will rate the applications. Funding awards of up to $3,000 each will be announced by Thursday, May 30
