We received multiple emails about the closure of 15th Ave NW from 67th St NW to north of 73rd St NW at approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning. SPD Detective Mark Jamieson confirmed that the closure was due to the serving of a search warrant.
“They are all gone now, but when I went to BHS at 5:45 this morning to swim, 15th was closed from 67th to north of 73rd, and the area was surrounded by what looked like SWAT,” wrote Michelle. “We heard a man shouting on a bullhorn for someone to exit a house down the block thru the back door,” reported Frank, who lives in the area of 67th St NW.
Reader Rian, who lives across the street from the house in question, reported that he woke at 5:30 a.m. to a loud explosion and heard SPD SWAT on the bullhorn, ordering the occupants to come out of the house with their hands up. “This went on for about 30 minutes. I could see SPD officers in SWAT gear, they arrested some people in the house and put them in a police van,” wrote Rian.
Jamieson had no further information to report on the matter and confirmed that streets are often closed by SPD when search warrants are served. The street is now open and the warrant has been served.
