BHS soccer team wins big at State Special Olympics

The Ballard High School Beavers unified soccer team from TeamBUS (Ballard Unified Sports), won 2nd place and silver medals at the Special Olympics State Summer Games over the weekend at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Unified Sports teams are made up of special-ed and general-ed students, and there were 2,700 athletes who took part in the games over the weekend. The team is made up of Brook Fitch, Gavin Halbett, Henrik Mansfield, Heyiwot Amare, Liam Moser, Liz Radford, Matt Brown, Matthew Anderson, Rebecca Hultman, Sean O’Neill, and Tess Schooler-Reed. Their coaches are Susan Dutro, Dagmar Obert, and Andrea Porter-Smith.

Ballard High School student Rebecca Hultman was additionally honored as she was asked to carry the official Olympic torch for the closing of the games.
