Bloom Restaurant, at 5410 17th Ave NW, opens its doors today. It’s a Japanese restaurant, born from a pop-up bento-box lunch spot.

Bloom is owned by Jason Harris, who has worked in Japanese restaurants for 10 years, and most recently worked as the chef at Showa restaurant in Fremont for the last two years. “Our goal remains the same: using traditional Japanese techniques and recipes to prepare fresh Northwest meats and veggies,” Harris wrote in an online fundraiser for the restaurant. “A full kitchen and our own dining room provide us with the opportunity to do much more than just Bento Boxes. We’ll have a full menu, including a bar, that reflects the best produce that the Northwest has to offer.”
The restaurant will be open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday to start, and will soon offer brunch and lunch.
