Ballard’s very own Tom Nissley represented our ‘hood well on Jeopardy a couple years ago when he became an 8-day champ, bringing home more than $235,000. He now has a chance to go back on the show: he’s one of five former champs in the running for the “Fan Favorite” slot in their upcoming 30th anniversary Battle of the Decades, in which 45 of the top players in the show’s history play for a cool $1 million.
Nissley is something of a Jeopardy legend, winning eight games in a row and becoming the show’s third all-time, regular-game money winner. A year after his original stint, he won two more times and finished second in the Tournament of Champions. “Jeopardy helped my wife and I change our lives,” Nissley writes on his bio page on the voting website.
From his bio:
I left my job to write books, and my first one is coming out in November. And three years after my wife sewed her first sparkly, vinyl handbag for herself, she sees women carrying her bags around Seattle almost every day. And we couldn’t be more grateful. But like anyone who has ever played Jeopardy!, the one thing I want most is to play again. And that’s all I ask now: one more chance to do one of the most fun things I’ve ever done, and to test myself against the greatest players in the history of the show.
There are a few ways to vote, as Nissley describes on his blog: on the Battle of the Decades Facebook page; via Twitter by posting a tweet that includes the word “Tom” and the hashtag “#JeopardyVote;” or on Jeopardy’s voting website. The voting period ends Oct. 21.
