The Ballard Boys and Girls Club annual fundraiser “Field of Our Dreams” hit a home run this year with over $116,000 raised. Over 300 guests attended the fundraiser event on October 25 with all proceeds going towards the renovation of the BB&GC baseball field and towards their scholarship fund.
“We are thrilled from the support we received from our sponsors, parents, and community,” says Shelley Puariea, Club Director. “We are especially grateful for the $25,000 contribution from our Presenting Sponsor, The Sports Medicine Clinic, and $10,000 from our Field Sponsor, The Mariners Care Foundation. Their funding and attendance helped us hit a grand slam for kids.” Other sponsors of the event included John and Shawn Goodman, Ballard Natural Gas Service, Inc., Carter Subaru, Jacobson Terminals, Inc., and Peoples Bank.
The Sports Medicine Clinic was especially honored to give back to the Ballard community that it has served for 50 years. “Being able to give back to our local community in such a meaningful way is very rewarding,” says Dr. Mitchel Storey, President of The Sports Medicine Clinic.
Highlights of the ninth annual fundraiser included live and silent auctions with auctioneer and MC Jeff Stokes as well as a barbecue salmon dinner that was donated by Masonic Lodge #72. Some notable VIPs in attendance included Ballard residents and longtime Club supporters John and Shawn Goodman, Seattle Mariners Hall of Famer Jay Buhner and former Ballard club member and USA Olympic Track and Field team member Norris Frederick.
The next opportunity to support Ballard Boys and Girls Club will take place this Thursday, November 14 at Reuben’s Brews (1406 NW 53rd St #1a). From 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Reuben’s Brews will donate $1 to the Club from each pint and growler sold in the taproom.
