The Seattle Public Library is set to host a citywide reading marathon for middle school students this Saturday, November 16 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Ballard branch (5614 22nd Ave NW) along with five other branches across the city will take part in the event.
All students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade from any Seattle public, private or home schools are welcome to compete. Teachers and school staff are also invited to attend and support the readers.
Students are invited to silently read anything they want, including books, e-books, magazines, comics and more. The grand prize will be awarded to the student/s who read for all six hours.
The school with the highest total reading hours will win a banner and, of course, bragging rights.
Feel free to bring pillows, beanbags or anything else to make yourself comfortable for a reading marathon. Snacks and pizza will be served to all competitors.
