Locals are welcome to help put the wind behind the sails of community sail transport at Salish Sea Trading Cooperative‘s cargo boat planning meeting tomorrow, February 12. The meeting will be held at Ballard Coffee Works (2060 NW Market St) from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The 35′ sailboat with an electric engine will serve as carbon-neutral transport for trading local goods back and forth from Ballard/Seattle and points West and North (Bainbridge, Whidbey Island, Port Townsend, and Port Ludlow).
The sailor-owned cooperative seeks to add resiliency to our community as we mitigate climate change and peak oil.
The next exciting step in the process is deciding upon either renovating an existing sailboat or building one new,
All are welcome to attend.
