The first weekend in May has arrived and there is plenty to do in Ballard! Check out the list of events and happenings below:
Friday, May 2:
- King County Master Gardener Plant Sale at Center for Urban Horticulture (3501 NE 41st St) from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Find plants from Master Gardeners and specialty growers, get free garden design consultations and quick tips, personal shopping advice from experienced Master Gardeners, and garden art and more from select vendors. - Loyal Heights Community Center Trivia and Taco Night (2101 NW 77th St) from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Join them for delicious Mexican food in celebration of Cinco De Mayo! Enjoy tacos plus a Piñata, Trivia questions, and crafts for the kids. $5 per person/ kids 3 & under eat free.
- St. Alphonsus School presents Fiddler on the Roof at 5816 15th Ave NW at 7 p.m. Adult tickets $13 and child (to age 14) tickets are $8. Click here to purchase tickets.
- Comedy Sportz Seattle Show at new venue Atlas Theatre (3509 Fremont Ave N) at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Click here for more details and to buy tickets.

- Cookbook Sale at Delancey’s (1415 NW 70th St) from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Hundreds of beautiful donated cookbooks–some gently used, some like new–covering a variety of topics and cuisines will be available. All cookbooks will be individually priced and are a great deal starting at just $2 and almost all under $10. All funds raised benefit Friends of Seattle Public Library. Click here to learn more.
- Book Fair Fundraiser to support Whitman Music Program at Northgate Barnes and Noble (401 NE Northgate Way, Suite 11002 p.m.s Bands and Orchestra will perform and proceeds from book sales that day will help support the Whitman Music Program. Local author (and Whitman parent) Ingrid Ricks will be signing copies of her New York Times Best Seller Autobiography, Hippie Boy, from 11 a.m. to noon. Click here for more details.

- Forrest Yoga Intro Series at Kula Movement, Center for Yoga & Health (5340 Ballard Ave NW) from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Bring your injuries, ailments, questions and aspirations, and we’ll share a practice where you’ll explore Yoga with pose modifications, and a deeper breath awareness. Cost is $60 for series.
- Spilled Ink: BHS Arts and Music Night at Ballard Library (5614 22nd Ave NW) from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The community is invited this special after hours event filled with art and music. - Ballard Labs Charity Poker Tournament at 1416 NW 46th St, Suite 301 from 6 p.m. To celebrate Ballard Lab’s 1 Year Anniversary they are co-sponsoring a huge poker tournament to raise money for the local chapter of Young Life. Click here for more details.

- Chorale Concert: Magnolia Moments at Magnolia Lutheran Church (2414 31st Ave W) at 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Jean-Marie Kent, on May 3 and 4 the Magnolia Chorale presents a program of glorious music celebrating our 25 years of service. Cost is $10.

- EBCA “Greenspace to Growlers” Jane’s Walk from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Join the EBCA and Feet First for a lively neighborhood walk through Ballard that explores urban greenspaces of all shapes and sizes, through a mix of residential blocks, commercial pockets, and the historic industrial core.
