The open house to inform the neighborhood about the DPD’s Ballard Urban Design project is set for this Wednesday, May 7, at Ballard Public Library (5614 22nd Ave NW).
The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with presentations at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The DPD is partnering with community organizations such as Ballard Chamber of Commerce and the Ballard Partnership for Smart Growth to come up with a coordinated and strategic planning effort to address the changes in our neighborhood and to create a vision that will steer future urban development in Ballard.

“The DPD is working with the community to address changes in Ballard and help create a vision that will shape growth and guide new development. We are at the beginning of our work, gathering your thoughts on the opportunities and issues now and in the future. We will use your ideas to shape recommendations,” writes DPD’s Senior Planner David W. Goldberg.
There are multiple ways for the community to get involved, in addition to attending the open house event tomorrow. Check out the ways to get involved online below:
- Visit the Imagine Seattle website.
- Give input on a number of topics from open space to housing affordability in Ballard.
- Share your ideas through social media using the hashtag #planballard.
- Complete a one-time survey and contribute your thoughts.
All are encouraged to attend the open house and share their ideas about how to make Ballard the best that it can be.
