One of Ballard’s biggest celebrations, Syttende Mai, is coming up next weekend and it is set to be full of fun and festivities!
This year’s celebrations will be extra special as 2014 marks the 200th anniversary of the signing of Norway’s constitution, which is celebrated on Syttende Mai, or May 17th.
2014 also marks the 125th anniversary of Seattle’s own Syttende Mai parade, which is the largest outside of Norway!
This year’s parade will kick off at 6 p.m. with a full line up of entertainment for the crowds at Bergen Place from 10 a.m. An Open House and Cafe is also planned at Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th Street) from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Locals can also purchase the limited edition 2014 Syttende Mai pin at Ballard Chamber or Secret Garden Bookshop (2214 NW Market Street).
Check out the Syttende Mai website to view the parade map, and follow the Twitter and Facebook pages for updates and more detailed info as the day draws closer.
The My Ballard team will be there on the day to capture all of the fun and excitement!
