With Washington state set to convert thousands of domestic partnerships to marriages next Monday as part of a provision in the state’s same sex marriage law, a celebration will be held at Ballard Commons Park (5501 22nd Ave NW) from 4 to 7 p.m. to mark the occasion.
The Ballard Blessings event is a collaboration between local businesses, community organizations, and seven participating churches, and will offer blessings to all, including those uniting in marriage. The event is free and welcomes all ages (and pets as well).
Local food trucks Streetzeria and Don Luchos will be serving up pizza and Peruvian sandwiches for those seeking a late lunch or dinner, while those looking for something sweeter can indulge with free ice cream, courtesy of Umpqua Bank.
Photography will provided by Urban Utopia, with live entertainment from Alleyoop and The Weavils. For kids, facepainting will be offered, and Bubbleman will be on hand.
QFC is offering free parking in their underground lot next to Ballard Commons Park for attendees.
