Seattle theatre group The Town Theatre will host an intimate production of “Almost, Maine” in the backyard of a Ballard home on September 7.
For $25, attendees also get to enjoy a catered barbecue by chef Mike Stamey from Wonderlust Catering, with ticketholders invited to bring their own alcohol, blankets, and things to sit on.
Written by John Cariani, “Almost, Maine” is a series of nine, two-character vignettes set in the fictional New England town. As described on the event page:
As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, residents of the fictional town of Almost, Maine find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend-almost-in this delightful midwinter night’s dream. Each scene is a different story with quirky, big-hearted characters working their way through the love, big and small, they have found in this small town.
While tickets purchased before the catering cutoff are $25, tickets without the meal will remain available until 30 minutes before the start of the show for $20. The performance is one of five the five-person group — all of whom have extensive backgrounds in theater, both in production and acting roles — is performing around Seattle.
