This Saturday’s Ballard ArtWalk will take over neighborhood businesses, galleries, studio, and restaurants from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a family-friendly showcase of the work of local artists.
This month, Ballard Works (2856 NW Market St) is hosting Fragments featuring original prints by Eight Printmakers, Becky Birinyi, Leslee Currie, Marcia Douglas, Ann Hunstiger, June Ireland, Marguerite Langlois, Lu McBride and Becky Prokop.
The Printmakers explored the theme of “Fragments” using a variety of unique printmaking techniques for this month’s exhibit. Art Walk goers can enjoy the multitude of colors and textures in this fascinating display.
New to Ballard Artwalk is Toronto born artist Karen Klee-Atlin of the Blue House Yellow Dog Studio (5406 6th Avenue NW). Karen Klee-Atlin did graduate work in painting and printmaking and received her MFA in painting from the University of Calgary.
She has spent much of her life overseas and these adventures have contributed to her rich artwork (pictured above). Klee-Atlin gathers images from a range of sources, including folk religious sculpture, industrial training manuals, and scarecrows, and renders them in woodcuts, acrylic, and oil.
