A 25-year-old man was rescued by the SFD and SPD after being stuck inside an abandoned railway car (pictured) in the 6200 block of Seaview Ave NW overnight on Tuesday.
According to the SFD, the man apparently slid inside the abandoned railway car head-first through the small opening accessible from the outside.
“He slid into the car with his feet sticking out, so for 18 hours he was stuck at a 45-degree angle,” says Seattle Fire spokesman Kyle Moore.
According to a report from our news partners at The Seattle Times, two local residents who were out walking discovered the trapped man at approximately 8:16 a.m. this morning and called 911.
Moore confirmed that the man suffered minor injuries being pulled out of the railways car that is believed to have been used to previously transport dry goods. “We had to pull him out by his feet,” says Moore.
At this point it is unclear why the man climbed into the abandoned car. “I don’t know how he got in there,” says Moore. “He’s not majorly injured; he’s being taken to Swedish Ballard.”
