Early this morning SPD officers arrested a suspect in a gunpoint robbery that occurred at 1:15 a.m. on Ballard Ave. Check out more details into the SPD Blotter post below:
Officers arrested one man early this morning and recovered a cache of stolen credit cards, shortly after they were taken at gunpoint from two women in Ballard.
The women were sitting in a car parked in the 5300 block of Ballard Ave NW just before 1:15 a.m. when a man walked up beside their vehicle. The man, who was holding a gun, demanded money from the women, and used a brick to shatter their car window.
One of the women threw her purse to the suspect, who grabbed the woman’s bag and fled on foot.
Police searched for the suspect but weren’t able to find him in the neighborhood. However, as officers were taking statements from the victims, one woman received a notification from her bank that her stolen debit card was being used at a nearby ATM.
Officers went to the ATM and NW 85th St and 15th Ave NW and found the suspect, who led them on a brief foot chase before he was taken into custody.
Officers found several of the victim’s credit cards on the man and booked him into the King County Jail for possession of stolen property.
Police are still investigating whether the man with the stolen cards is the same suspect who robbed the two women.
