The Crown Hill Farm Stand is set to open this Wednesday, June 3, (and each Wednesday through Thanksgiving) from 3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Crown Hill Center (9250 14th Ave NW – south end of building near the baseball field).
The stand is operated by City Grown Seattle, a distributed, urban vegetable farm with a mission to supply Seattle neighborhoods with a full variety of ultra-local, ultra-delicious, sustainably grown produce. The produce is primarily grown in underutilized local backyards.
The Crown Hill team is excited to get the 2015 season started! “With this hot weather, we have a quite respectable list of veggies available already — this is definitely the earliest we’ve ever had kohlrabi, green onions, or broccolini ready for harvest,” says Becky, Ashley, Ariana and Arielle.
The farm stand will feature the following items this week:
- Baby bok choi
- Bunched kale, chard, and collards
- French breakfast radishes
- Japanese salad turnips
- Salad mix
- Spicy bunched greens
- Spinach
- Arugula
- Kolhrabi
- Head lettuce – romaine, red crisp, butterhead, etc
- Green onions
- Broccolini
- Mixed heirloom baby lettuces
- Plant starts including Stupice and Sungold tomatoes
