An official city meeting will take place Wednesday, August 12th, in Ballard to discuss the tent encampments coming to Seattle. The meeting is at Leif Erickson Hall (2245 NW 57th St) from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
City staff will address a number of key points having to do with the process of encampment site selections, including:
· The ordinance passed by City Council in March that allows sanctioned tent encampments on City-owned or private land in non-residential zones
· The selection process to identify possible City-owned sites
· The operations of and conditions for sanctioned encampments
· The additional work that the City of Seattle is doing to address the crisis of homelessness
Representing the city, Deputy Mayor Hyeok Kim is attending. Staff from the Human Services Department, the Department of Planning and Development, and the Department of Neighborhoods will also be available to discuss their work.
