For those Ballardites who have goods on consignment at Me N’ Mom’s, there will be an opportunity to pick up your unsold items at the end of the month. The once-popular store shuttered its doors in February after being evicted. A sign on the door tells customers to pick up their items on August 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The sign on the door also states that anyone there for pickups must present a receipt or agreement before collecting items, and that there will be no cash refunds for merchandise or credit. That’s likely to upset customers like My Ballard reader Jolyn who weighed in on the issue back when the store first closed. “I’m sure I’m not the only parent in Ballard who’d like her unsold stuff back and a check for what they owe me,” said Jolyn.
Another My Ballard reader, Morganopolis, emailed to say she’s pleased that there’s finally some action to close for good and return items to their owners. She voiced concern for the owner, saying, “there was a lot of anger hurled in the direction of Wendy, the owner, over the abrupt closure, but in my life experience people don’t shutter businesses during peak season for any reason that is positive.”
Morganopolis also wondered how customers were going to get their items back, as most people never got receipts for their items on consignment. “No one will have these,” Morganopolis writes. “it’s all on their computers. That will be bumpy.”
