Ethan Stowell’s newest venture will be opening in Ballard in October: it’s called Bramling Cross, and will pair upscale beer with gourmet food. It will fill the space of the old Portalis location at 5205 Ballard Ave. (Portalis moved to 6754 15th Ave NW earlier this year.)
Bramling Cross is a type of hop, and beer will be a major focus of the soon-to-open gastropub. They’ll have 8 taps of local beer and a large selection of other cans and bottles. “There are so many microbreweries in Fremont and Ballard that are really highly regarded,” Stowell told Seattle Eater. “Beer is becoming an upscale thing; might as well put some upscale food with it.”
Eater reports that Michael Gifford from Stowell’s How to Cook a Wolf will be at the helm of Bramling Cross, “serving up Stowell-caliber fried oysters, hot wings, foie gras, Wagyu culotte steak, grilled chicken, housemade sausages, and more in shared plates.”
We’ll update when we find out their exact opening date.
