Boy Scout Troop 100 annually sells Christmas trees in the parking lot of St. Alphonsus Church (5816 15th Ave NW). It is their one and only annual fundraiser and holds a special place in the Ballard community after being held for nearly 60 years. Troop 100 wants to let the Ballard community know that operating hours have changed slightly this year.
The new hours are:
- Monday-Friday: 1:00pm-9:00pm
- Saturday/Sunday: 9:00am-9:00pm
The troop has made the later starting time change to accommodate St. Alphonsus’ school children’s recess time. The troop writes that, “We were happy to make the change because St. Al’s has provided so much to the Troop by allowing us to use their parking lot.”
This year’s tree species include:
- Noble Fir
- Nordmann Fir
- Grand Fir
- Douglas Sheared
- Natural Douglas
- Fraser Fir
- Norway Spruce
- Their famed “Charlie Brown” Christmas Trees
2016 marks Troop 100’s Diamond Jubilee. The troop is making plans for a gala involving current and past Troop families that will take place some time next year, potentially October/November. More information will be posted when it is available.
The scouts and their families enjoy hosting this special Ballard holiday tradition and fundraiser. All who are involved volunteer their time to ensure that the Christmas tree sale is a success. All money raised goes directly to Troop 100 and allows them to participate in many activities throughout the year.
The tree lot will be open until December 20th, or until they run out of trees.
