On a rainy December 12, 1948, crowds gathered to watch Ballard’s annual Children’s Parade. The parade was just one highlight of the Seattle district’s annual Scandinavian Christmas Festival .
This photo, taken during the 1948 Ballard Scandinavian Christmas Festival, shows a line of children getting ready to march in the annual parade. Many of the children wear folk costume and clutch raincoats in case it starts to rain again.
