9 p.m. Well folks, that’s mostly it. The storm is winding down, and it looks like we survived. Have a good night!
8:50 p.m. Chimney fire at 30th and 59th, but looks to be minor.
8:30 p.m. There’s a tree down at 32nd and 80th in Ballard, but still showing no significant outages in the area. We received one report of CenturyLink services down in Whittier Heights.

7:30 p.m. No outages in Ballard, only 2,000 in Seattle overall, and the wind so far has been much weaker than expected. In fact, the worst is already over, per the Weather Service. It looks like you can add this storm to the long list of over-hyped weather events in our city’s great history:
Seattle metro to the south, gusts will generally be under 40 MPH the rest of the evening. Threat for damaging winds is greatly diminished.

6:45 p.m. Firefighters responded to a report of wires down in Frelard at 44th St. and 3rd Ave. Still pretty quiet out there, outage-wise.
Heavy showers with gusts of 40+ MPH moving through much of the I-5 corridor from Everett to Seattle now

6:15 p.m. Cliff Mass just updated his blog, and he says the storm is weaker than expected. “This is not going to be a Chanukah Eve or Inauguration Day Storm in the central Puget Sound area,” he writes. Power is holding for Ballard and all but a couple spots in North Seattle. Here’s the situation in Seattle and beyond:
As of 6:15pm, @SEACityLight reports 3,000 without power, @PSETalk has 17,000. Peak gust in Seattle ~40mph #wawx

5:15 p.m. Winds are starting to pick up, and there’s a report of a tree into wires, causing a small outage on 61st St. between 9th and 11 Ave.

3:45 p.m. The windstorm is arriving, and we’ll be posting updates about power outages (map) and any damage reports in Ballard and surrounding neighborhoods. So far, no real outages in the area to report. Winds are expected to peak from 6-10 p.m. in our area with gusts as high as 60 mph.
