Locals are encouraged to attend the 10th Annual Stories of the Sea event, a raucous night dedicated to song, poetry and storytelling about the epic adventures of commercial fishing that will kick off the Harley Marine Seattle Maritime Festival.
This year’s Stories is set for 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at the Highliner Public House (3909 18th Ave West, in Fisherman’s Terminal).
The evening will feature 15 performers, with cash prizes awarded to the top three participants – $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third. Representatives of the media and the maritime industry will judge the performers based on creativity, presentation, imagery and poetic design.
“Stories of the Sea is a terrific opportunity to bring our community together during the Harley Marine Seattle Maritime Festival to showcase the epic heritage of the fishing industry,” said Susan Chesney, President of the Seattle Propeller Club and Western Sales Manager for National Fisherman and WorkBoat magazines.
Poets and storytellers interested in participating can register at: info@SeattleMartime101.com.
The event is free and family friendly!
