The Ballard Tool Library is applying for the Seattle Neighborhoods Community Partnership Fund to help them open, and are seeking volunteer pledges.
“Pledging volunteer hours demonstrates community support for the project and lets the Ballard Tool Library know that they’ll have help once open,” Anna Fidgeon from the library tells us. If they’re awarded the fund, the library must match every dollar with donations and volunteer hours. “The more volunteer support means the more money the library can be awarded!”
The tool library will run like a normal library, providing community access to tools at little to no cost. There are several other tool libraries in the city, including Phinney, Northeast Seattle, and Capitol Hill.
To step up as a volunteer or if you have questions, email Fidgeon at ballardtoollibrary@gmail.com with the number of hours you are able to donate over the course of one year, your street address, and phone number by Friday, June 23rd.
