On Saturday, July 29, the Ballard P-Patch (8527 25th Ave NW) will be taken over by art, pie, and treasure hunts for the annual Art in the Garden fundraiser. The event is 11am to 5pm, and admission is free.
“Follow your nose to sausages on the grill, and keep your ears open for live music on the stage powered by Carter Subaru. Once you arrive, be sure to notice all the garden art (including gnomes!) and one of the newest Henry murals in town, created as part of Art in the Garden festivities last year,” the organizers say.
There will be local artists’ booths, kids’ activities, live music, a pie auction and bake sale, silent auction, beer garden with Maritime Pacific Brewing Company on tap, food trucks, and ice cream.
In addition to the festivities, “gardeners will be on hand to point out organic practices used in the garden, from pollinators to compost, or to help you identify what is growing in over 80 individual garden plots. In keeping with a Sweet Sixteen theme, gardeners have tucked “sweet” crops in their plots,” according to the organizers. “Visitors are encouraged to stroll the pathways, and be on the watch for such delicacies as sweet 100s, sweet peas, Walla Walla sweets, and more.”
This is Ballard P-Patch’s sole yearly fundraising event. Proceeds go to support their Giving Garden for the Ballard Food Bank and general garden maintenance.
