On Saturday, September 16 Carkeek Park will host the 11th Annual Festival of Fruit, a celebration of all things autumnal.
The festival will be from 10am to 2pm at the Carkeek Park Education Center (950 NW Carkeek Park Rd), and will include an apple pie contest, cider pressing and tasting, a Master Gardener clinic, an orchard tour, a wildlife habitat tour, Mason Bee demos, apple identification, live music from Blue Star Creeper.
To enter the apple pie contest, bring your homemade pie between 10am and 10:30am, or feel free to donate a homemade pie for resale, with all proceeds going to maintain the orchard.
The festival is organized by the Friends of Piper’s Orchard, a group of volunteers who nurtured the historic North Seattle orchard back to health after being overrun by invasive plants. For more information, call 206-684-0877, email pipersorchard@gmail.com, or visit the Piper’s Orchard website.
