With the overnight low temperatures getting into 30s, the Ballard Food Bank says it needs cold weather items.
That includes emergency blankets, hats, socks, sleeping bags, gloves, hand-warmers, ponchos, flashlights and batteries (AA and AAA).
The food banks asks that these items are donated new, not recycled.
To drop off your donation, you can visit the Ballard Food Bank on Leary Way on Monday-Thursday. Hours and details are available here.
There will be many things to prepare this winter.
Why nor ask REI to donate?
I think that’s a good point, if REI could help out. Or even the local businesses in old town Ballard. If may be too much of a burden for one alone. It’s getting pretty cold. I’ve seen frost fairly regularly on my dog walks. I got my dog coat. People need coats too. I found gloves on sale a few weeks back from Forever21 in Cap Hill. $1.50 a pair. If I’m in the area again soon and they’re on sale still, I can pick up a few pairs.
