- Midnight Empties Holiday Bash (made up mostly of Ballard dads) perform a benefit concert at the Ballard Elks, 8 p.m., $10
- Country singer Mike Giacolino performs with KEXP at Patagonia Ballard, 7-10 p.m, free
- Lucy Kaplansky and Debbie Miller at Ballard Homestead, 7:30 p.m., $20/$25
- The Stone Foxes and The Mondegreens play Sunset Tavern, 8:30 p.m., $15
- Jason Webley, Hot Damn Scandal at Conor Byrne, 8 p.m. to midnight, $8

Saturday, Dec. 9
- Peddler Brewing is holding a Holiday Craft Fair, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Populuxe Brewing is turning its tasting room and event space into an arts and crafts beer show, 12-6 p.m. Drink local while shopping local.
- Artist warehouse space Building C is open once per year, so come visit working artist studios in the heart of Ballard’s industrial art zone, noon-9 p.m. at 4818 14th Ave. NW
- Live music:
- The Market Street Singers at Ballard First Lutheran Church, 3 and 7 p.m., free
- Patterson Hood, Guests at Sunset Tavern, 7 and 10 p.m., $25
- The Cave Singers Turn 10! with Shelby Earl, Ages & Ages at the Tractor, 9 p.m., $20
- Tom Waits Tribute Night at Conor Byrne, bring items for Seattle Children’s Hospital toy drive, 8 p.m., $10
Sunday, Dec. 10
- Arthritis Foundation’s original Jingle Bell Run kicks off this morning at 8 a.m. at Westlake Park. Expect downtown traffic impacts.
- The Ballard Elks are hosting a Holiday Market featuring beautifully-crafted items from over 30 local artists and craftspeople, 12 to 5 p.m., 6411 Seaview Ave NW.
- Join Ray’s Café for its first Gingerbread House Decorating Party at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Donations will be collected for Mary’s Place. Reservations are required, call 206-782-0094.
- Join the Leif Erikson Lodge together with the Seattle-Bergen Sister City Association and the Karmøy Club for a traditional Yuletide celebration Jultrefest, 1-3 p.m., $1 for kids, $8 adults
- Celebrate the launch of KBFG, our neighborhood’s new community radio station. 2-6 p.m. at Peddler’s Brewery. (See our earlier story).
- Sustainable Ballard is holding its Holiday Party and Barter Fair. Bring giftable goods or coupons for services to barter, or come to connect with neighbors, 5-7 p.m., Amazing Grace Spiritual Center, 2007 NW 61st St.
- Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church is holding the traditional Swedish holiday event Luciafest, and all are welcome. 5 p.m. at 2400 NW 85th St.

- Tractor Tavern’s Handmade Arcade, live music and shopping, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saint John & the Revelations, Ry Flannery & The Night Owls, Patrick Galactic at The Tractor, 7 p.m., $8
- The Ballard Farmers Market will be open in Old Ballard, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
