Last week’s teacher strikes have been resolved, which means tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 5) will be the first day of school for Seattle Public Schools.
Seattle teachers and school staff have reached a tentative one-year contract with the school district which includes a 10.5 percent raise for the 6,000 employees. The deal, according to the Seattle Times, also includes an extra five days of parental leave for teachers and subs, classified staff and personnel. The union and the school board will vote on the tentative contract this month.
Remember to watch out for students as they make their way to school first thing on Wednesday morning.

No teacher strikes last week, just a commitment to strike if there was no tentative agreement by the first day of school.
SEA membership still needs to vote to make this agreement more than tentative. The vote happens on Saturday. If it is not passed by the membership, then a strike may still occur.
