There are quite a few events happening around Ballard this weekend, and some beautiful weather in the forecast.
Here are a few of the highlights:
Friday, Oct. 12
- Ballard Senior Center Rummage Sale, 9am – 4pm. The two-day event is the final rummage sale of the year, and a massive fundraiser for the center. They’ll also be selling soups, sandwiches, salads and pies.
Saturday, Oct. 13
- Fall Festival at Swanson’s Nursery,10am – 3pm. The yearly two-day fall festival at Swanson’s has family-friendly games and crafts, a veggie-cart race, gumboot flower plantings, tractor hay rides and even a spider web obstacle course. Food and drinks will come from on-site cafe, Barn & Field, and from the Ballard Kiwanis Club, who will donate their proceeds to the Ryther Center for Children and Youth. All ticket sales from the event will benefit local nonprofit Green Plate Special.

- Parking Lot Takeover at New Seasons, 12pm – 5pm. The New Seasons Market will have samples from a number of Seattle and Washington companies including: Firefly Kitchens, Frans Chocolate, Fremont Brewing, CB’s Nuts and Loki Fish Co. They’ll be setting up an outdoor seating area with music from DJ Backgammon.
- Ballard ArtWalk, 6pm – 9pm. The monthly art walk through downtown Ballard will include live music, art installations and demonstrations.
Sunday, Oct. 14
- Ballard Farmer’s Market along Ballard Ave from 10am – 3 pm. Click here to see this week’s specials.

- Tractor Tavern Flea Market, 11am – 4pm. The monthly flea market brings together crafters, artists, collectors and designers from around Seattle, “to set up and sell awesome crap you definitely need!” The market is free and 21+.
- Taste of Iceland Festival: Stockfish film festival at the Nordic Museum, 2pm to 4pm. The Icelandic film industry’s premier festival, Stockfish, will screen its short film program, which focuses on highlighting up-and-coming Icelandic filmmakers. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis — space is limited. There are no age restrictions on the films, but they are not recommended for children. Interested attendees are encouraged to RSVP on Facebook here.
