The man who won Sunday’s Seattle Marathon is a Ballard High School alum.
Alex Bowns graduated from Ballard High School in 2012, and went on to run for the University of Portland. He took first place in the marathon by a full three minutes with his time of 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 21 seconds. Coming in second was Mark Hamilton, at 2:30:31 and in third was Joseph Darka at 2:32:45.

The women finishers include Allison Thompson in first place with her time of 2:54:49, Kristina Randrup in second at 3:01:11, and Monica Folts in third at 3:02:53.
