One of Ballard’s breweries is about to celebrate their sixth year in business.
Populuxe Brewing, which opened in March 2013, doubled their space two years ago and has become well-known for their regular and family-friendly events. Their 6th birthday will be no exception: on March 23rd, they’re hosting a Retro Game Show Night with emcee Betty Wetter.
The party will kick off at noon, with the first 20 people through the door earning themselves a commemorative Populuxe t-shirt. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to spin the Wheel of Fortune to win prizes. At 5pm, Price is Right will get underway, where participants will compete to identify the prices of their merchandise. At 7:30, they’ll start Family Feud, in which teams of four can compete against the Reuben’s Brews Family and the Populuxe Brewing Family.
They have four new beers coming out in celebration: three IPAs and a sour.
Contestant #1 is a West Coast IPA, brewed with Experimental Hop 07270. “Dank and resinous, this big IPA has a strong, spicy hop-forward character,” and comes in at 7.5%ABV and 65IBU.
Contestant #2 is an IPA brewed with Experimental Hop 10416, with “fruit forward orange, citrus, pine and mint aromas. A simple malt bill of organic 2-row and white wheat keep the hop character front and center,” and is 6%ABV, 65IBU.
Contestant #3 is a Buddha’s Hand Lemondrop Brut IPA. “This IPA is brewed with 100% Lemondrop hops with a Pilsner malt and Flaked Rice grist. Buddha’s Hand was added post fermentation to help the citrusy Lemondrop hops really pop. Bone dry and bright!” This IPA is 6.5%ABV, 40IBU.
Survey Says Sour is an American Sour ale, brewed with Soursop and Tangerine. “Fruity and tart, this refreshing experimental sour bursts with tropical flavor.” The sour is 5%, and 1IBU.
The Peasant Food Manifesto food truck will be at Populuxe for dinner, “mimicking the TV dinners of your youth,” Populuxe says.

Contestant #2 sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it.
I can’t believe it’s already been 6 years! Even though my my fave by them is their Brown Ale, I’m looking forward to trying these new IPAs.
