A group of volunteers will be out cleaning up Golden Gardens this coming Saturday, March 9.
The organizers call themselves the Park Punks, who are simply, “Humans picking up other humans’ trash and enjoying public spaces,” they write on their Facebook page.
In the past, they’ve hosted an Alki Beach cleanup, and coming up in April, plan to host a cleanup at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. They also have a fundraiser going to raise money for future cleanup events. They say they’d like to buy a beach-combing rake for sifting broken glass and other debris out of sand.
The event on Saturday will happen rain or shine, and the Park Punks will bring supplies (pickers, trash bags, and gloves). The cleanup will be followed up with a Happy Hour somewhere nearby (location TBD, they write on their Facebook event page).
If you want to join, find the Park Punks from 1pm to 4pm on the beach.
