There’s a new restaurant going in on the corner of 73rd and 15th, filling the location where Medina Gyro used to operate.
It’s called Sazon Kitchen — you may recognize the name from their popular Mexican food truck, Sazon Tacos — and they’ve been busy remodeling the restaurant in preparation for their opening.
Sazon co-owner Aldo Gongora tells My Ballard that the restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch from 7am to 3pm, and the taco truck will be open on site from 11am to 10pm. The restaurant menu will include “just a touch of Mexican breakfast”, with bread from Macrina Bakery and coffee from Caffe Vita roasters. The taco truck will have their regular taqueria menu.
Aldo says they hope to be open in early to mid May. In the meantime, you can follow them on Facebook as they get ready to open.
Looks absolutely delicious, cant wait!
It’s got to be better than El Camion. We always LOL while driving by EC, looking inside and seeing no Mexican people eating there. Ask a Chinese person about this technique: never go to a Chinese restaurant that has NO Chinese people eating there. Haven’t seen the truck and do look forward to stopping in.
Um, I’ve seen Mexican people eating at El Camion pretty much every time I’m there and their truck up on Aurora always has Mexican people eating there. If you don’t like it, just say you don’t like it. You don’t need to create some convoluted, false explanation about why others shouldn’t like it.
Same here Truth, I’ve also seen Mexican people every time. I guess his “technique” is flawed.
I try to not look at people and judge them/identify them by their race. Just me though.
My Mexican neighbor eats there with his family often.
Personally, I love it. I used to get a burrito that would feed me for 2 days easily.
Did you ask them for some form of ID? Otherwise, how did you know they were Mexican vs. Salvadoran, Venezuelan, etc. Or do all those “browns” just “look alike” to you?
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that a Salvadoran or Venezuelan person is not likely to be wearing a Chicharito jersey, but thanks for your “concern”.
