Update: Scandinavian Specialties owner Bjørn Ruud said he hasn’t been informed of any future development planned for the property.
“As is perhaps typical with commercial landlord/tenant relationships, I have been kept almost completely in the dark,” Ruud tells My Ballard. However, he said his lease includes a 12-month termination clause, so the store will stay put for the next year at least.
Original: The property where Scandinavian Specialties operates has just been sold for $2.9 million.
According to a report from theSeattle Daily Journal of Commerce, the potential development site including 6701-6719 15th Ave NW has just been bought by 67th and 15th Ave LLC, associated with LDG Architects.
The site also includes the now-closed Specialty Auto Care shop.
We’ve reached out to Scandinavian Specialties, and will update with any news regarding their future plans.
Uff da! So long, Scandinavian Specialties :'(
Let’s hope they relocate. We like their lunch selection.
This one hurts.
Uh oh.
Thanks for posting about my shop and the sale of our business location. We have been renting here since 2001. Our current lease has a year long termination clause so we will be around for the next 12 months at least. We hope to find an affordable site in Ballard to move to should the new owner choose to develop. We are honored and proud to be a part of this community and hope to carry on the Nordic traditions well into the future. Come by and say hello! Tusen Takk!
