The family-owned Greek restaurant Plaka Estiatorio (5407 20th Ave NW) has announced they’ll be closing their doors soon.
Plaka posted the following message on Facebook announcing their closure:
It is with deep sadness and heavy heart that we announce the closing of our beloved Plaka Estiatorio on June 30, 2019. Thank you to Ballard for hosting us and our loyal customers which essentially are our extended family members. Your support and love over the last 11 years has been unforgettable! It has been a privilege and honor to serve you while making friendships that will last a lifetime. Each and everyone of you holds a special place in our hearts. We are closing this chapter but hope in the near future to adventure into a new one! We will keep you posted on Facebook. Please feel free to post any pictures of your time at Plaka or share memories with us. We love you all and cheers to you!

No word yet on what will become of the space once they move out at the end of June, but we’ll update when we know more.
Let me guess what it will become….a six-story hotel? A seven-story apartment? A parking lot?
Considering it’s sandwiched between two other businesses, maybe not.
Hotel, apartment or parking lot does not care about those other businesses.
Bummer. :(
Most Greek people are white. This story is racist.
