This weekend, downtown Fremont will transform into a festival of art and music to celebrate the summer solstice.
The Fremont Fair kicks off on Saturday, with over 300 vendors at the Craft Market opening at 10am. Two stages of live music will start at 11am, and the 31st annual Solstice Parade will get going at 1pm, led by the naked cyclists (who recently reclaimed the start of the parade).
On Sunday, live music and the craft market open at 11am, with the annual Dog Parade starting at 2:30pm.
You can expect traffic around Fremont to be something of a nightmare.
Six blocks of Fremont will be blocked off for the whole weekend for the Fremont Fair. Street closures for the parade will start at 12:30pm on Saturday along the route, which starts at N. 36th St. and NW Canal St, carries on down 36th to Fremont Place/Fremont Ave and then goes along N. 34th St to Gas Works Park.
If you can, leave your car at home and jump on a bus or bike to get to Fremont for the festivities. Metro buses that pass through Fremont will be on a revised schedule, including the 62, 31/32, and 40. Metro will be running a special shuttle from downtown Seattle on Saturday only — here’s the schedule.

This is a very unique parade! Most cities do not have anything like this.
And thank you Geeky Swedes for removing the trolls that would be posting negative messages about this really fun day.
Agreed, the solstice festival looks like a fun community building event. I would attend if it weren’t for the naked bike riders and general openness toward nudity associated with the event and it’s attendees. Unfortunately that keeps me and many of my friends from participating, but otherwise it looks like a grand time!
