On Saturday, there will be a big beach clean-up happening at Golden Gardens.
Sept. 21 is Coastal Clean-Up Day, an international beach cleaning event that happens on coastlines around the world. The Golden Gardens clean-up is being organized by Puget Soundkeeper and Windermere Ballard.
Last year, the group collected over 400 pounds of trash at Golden Gardens.
“We are looking for volunteers to help us beat that record,” Windermere organizers write on the Facebook event page.
If you want to join, look for the Windermere Ballard blue flags on the beach — they’ll provide garbage bags and a few trash pickers.
They’ll be at the beach from 10am to noon, Saturday, Sept. 21.
very nice, its a shame the way some folks would leave trash, cig butts, etc in such an awesome park. it can be quite a sight early in the morning in the summer after the d-bags are done partying.
i used to see an older gentleman in the mornings that would walk the beach picking up trash – not sure if he did it every day but he was there often.
I participated in this cleanup last year and was surprised (and saddened) at the huge number of cigarette butts I picked up! Do people think those just evaporate?
i see people casually toss them from car windows all the time…shocking, just dumb, behavior
