The plans for the two new apartment buildings — one on NW Market St and one directly behind it on NW 56th — have been updated to include additional units, all of which will be small efficiency dwelling units.
The buildings will be called the Ballard Hubs, and would be back-to-back on the same block, separated by an alley. The address are 1740 NW Market St — where the FedEx is currently located — and 1741 NW 56th St, the lot directly behind FedEx.
The new land use application for 1740 NW Market St is for an 8-story apartment with 102 small efficiency dwelling units — the previous application was for 76 units. The building would have retail and office space, plus parking for two vehicles.
The application for 1741 NW 56th St is also for an 8-story building, but with 106 small efficiency units, up from 84 in the previous application. Retail and office are also included, plus parking for 33 vehicles.
Written comments on both applications will be accepted until Jan. 8, 2020 and should be submitted either via email to PRC@seattle.gov, or mail to Department of Construction & Inspections, ATTN: Public Resource Center, P.O. Box 34019, Seattle, WA 98124-40194.
parking for 2 cars? why bother
Perhaps they will be handicapped ♿️ spaces.
maybe maintenance workers, handicap spaces, temporary load/unload, etc.
Just what we need more traffic in Ballard aren’t we lucky !
Ballard it too crowded as it is. When will this end?
When population growth decreases to replacement level and Seattle stops being an attractive place to live? Or whenever Ballard is consumed by the rising seal-level?
Which do you prefer?
We’re a climate flight #1 destination so we’re not going to experience negative population growth and we’re largely above sea level in the vast majority of currently settled neighborhoods. Try harder???
