Although the National Nordic Museum is closed for the COVID-19 outbreak, their digital collection is free for virtual perusal.
“Browse our collection of approximately 80,000 objects through our Online Collections Portal,” they say in a newsletter to patrons. “You’ll find vintage photographs, historic documents, and text and images of our objects. You can search by keyword, or browse by category. History at your fingertips starts here!”
In addition to browsing their collections, they have over 400 oral history recordings available for listening. The recordings are from the Nordic American Voices (NAV) oral history program volunteers.
The Nordic will also be sharing kids activities; follow the museum on Facebook to learn more. “We’re also sharing some fun things for adults to do, right from your own home!”
The museum expects to lose around 70 percent of their monthly income due to the closure; to donate, click here.
