National Nordic Museum launches oral history project to record pandemic stories

The National Nordic Museum is starting a new project to collect oral histories of the global COVID-19 pandemic from Nordic countries and the Pacific Northwest.

The project is called “A Pandemic Preserved: The COVID-19 Crisis in the Nordic Countries and Pacific Northwest,” in which the Museum curatorial staff will use remote conferencing services to conduct interviews to be transcribed and archived for future research.

The Nordic says that snippets from personal stories that capture the health crisis through every day experiences will be shared via the museum’s social media as living history.

If you want to contribute to the museum with your personal story about living through the pandemic, email the Nordic’s curatorial team at nordic@nordicmuseum.org.

As a reminder, the museum’s entire collection is available online, as are their Curator Chats, which are the work of the Nordic’s Director of Collections Leslie Anderson, and focus on current collection items at the Nordic.
