The work to improve the west end of NW Market St is inching nearing completion, as crews focus their work on paving along NW 54th St and Market and building new bus shelters.
Last week, crews continued with pole removal and foundation demolition on NW 54th St and NW Market St, and started with foundation work for the new bus shelters on 54th and at the corner of 28th Ave NW and Market.
This week, crews plan to continue paving sidewalks, curbs, and ADA ramps along NW 54th St. Bus shelter foundation work will also continue, and crews are scheduled to pave the southwest corner of the 28th and Market intersection.
SDOT says crews will work through Saturday this week in order to continue paving work along the project corridor; work hours are 7am to 6pm.
Remaining work for this stage of the Ballard Multimodal Corridor project includes pole removal and foundation demolition, additional roadway demolition and paving, bus shelter construction, and vegetation and general site restoration work.
The current traffic configurations along NW Market St will remain in place until further notice (see map above).
And, as a heads up, SDOT says the next phase of the Market St paving project will shift east to the section of Market between 15th and 24th sometime this summer (this website has more details).
