The design plans for a 7-story apartment building at corner of 11th Ave NW and NW 54th St have been updated, now calling for a congregate residence along with small efficiency dwelling units.
The project at 1100 NW 54th St would have 57 units—55 small efficiency dwelling units and two efficiency dwelling units—with a congregate residence containing 28 sleeping rooms and retail. No parking is in the plans.
The developers are Kamiak Real Estate — here’s a look at some of their other projects around the city. The Ballard development would be called the Gilman Flats.
According to the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI), this project has opted to temporarily change from full design review (community meetings with the Design Review Board) to administrative design review (SDCI planner review) in accordance with emergency legislation Council Bill 119769 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SDCI will accept written comments to assist in the preparation of the recommendation through June 15. You can submit comments and information requests to PRC@seattle.gov or City of Seattle – SDCI – PRC, 700 5th Avenue, Suite 2000, PO Box 34019, Seattle, WA 98124-4019.
Looks nice! Above average design for an apartment building around here. That corner business has been vacant for years so having a new restaurant or something there will be good for the surrounding blocks.
Agree 100%. It’s attractive.
Yes, especially because you can’t see what’s behind it.
I’m glad to see a lot of units with decks! It gives the neighborhood warmer feel when people are outside on their decks enjoying the scenery.
