The plans to replace the KFC with an 86-unit apartment building are taking shape, with several design ideas proposed for the site at 1140 NW Market St.
The five-story building, to be named Lagom Living, would contain 86 small efficiency dwelling units, and is being designed by Blueprint Capital. Blueprint says the name Lagom (pronounced la-gohm) is Swedish, and “describes the positive feeling of having the bare minimum. Live like it’s ‘just enough’ – not too much, not too little. Something being ‘just right.'”
Blueprint put out a survey earlier this year to gauge community feedback; now they have three potential designs being considered for the project (to view click here, go to Attachments, and download the Design Review EDG Proposal – Draft.pdf).
It might help to point out that “lagom” is a Swedish word. That helps explain its use in Ballard.
Which has apparently been updated now in the article. Glad to be of help.
Terrific drawing. Never seen that alley look so clean.
Better name?
“COVID Hutches”.
Overbuilt, Ballard is.
Native, are you?
They should name it grådighet.
I hope to never catch you selling something for a profit.
