The Ballard Health Club is offering virtual classes for the public and free Sunday admission in an effort to bring members back to the club.
The gym closed in mid-March for COVID-19, freezing all memberships while the city went into lockdown. While they were permitted to reopen in August, their members haven’t returned as they’d hoped, so they’re offering the virtual classes and free Sundays for the month of October to try to stay afloat.
“We need help, like all small businesses we might not make it because we can’t open fully,” Ballard Health Club class director Karen Gamble tells My Ballard. “We’ve always been the ‘peoples’ gym. Everyone’s invited to show up just as they are and join BHC.”
The gym is live-streaming over 50 classes each week, and is still offering their one-on-one training sessions for members. The free Sundays will start on Oct. 3.
“I’m hoping with this information, past members might help us fight the good fight and keep our business alive,” Gamble says.
Ballard Health Club is open seven days a week, and the 20-minute free classes are being held Monday through Saturday; click here and scroll through the class list to find the free classes. For an explanation of their COVID-19 precautions and cleaning protocol, click here.
