The Indian restaurant Spice Waala is coming to Ballard, set to open in the former Boar’s Nest location (2008 NW 56th St).
Owners Aakanksha Sinha and Uttam Mukherjee (below) opened their first location in Capitol Hill in 2019—they plan to roll out the same menu at their Ballard location.
The Ballard location will also offer Spice Waala’s Bhojan community food program in which the restaurant distributes 100 meals per week to those in need. Since the program started in Capitol Hill, they’ve given away over 7,000 meals.
When they open in January, they’ll offer take-out only, and will eventually be open for limited seating when pandemic restrictions lift.
